David Read has long enjoyed British sports cars starting with a TR4 purchased from his brother for $800. He drove this car from the Philadelphia area to Norfolk many times while stationed in the Navy. When he and Judy got married, he downsized, selling a VW and his TR4 to upgrade to a Chevy Vega. He is still regretting that move.

In the 1980’s he purchased another TR4 basket case as a summer project which stretched into several years of course. After repainting and mechanical work this went on to another owner.

They moved to the upstate of South Carolina and joined the club in 1996 at the suggestion of an acquaintance in the club. They were involved in many club activities and one of their favorites was the yearly car show in downtown Anderson. David assisted fellow club member Jim Dunkel with a year’s long restoration of an Austin Healey Bugeye Sprite that was a rewarding shared experience. Their most recent car is a 1980 MGB that was purchased in 2005.
